Soloshot 3 is basically a cameraman robot that can operate
by itself without any help from human. At the same time, the robot will continue
to focus on you while recording your actions. The secret lies in a component
called Soloshot Tag. The size is very small; you can store it in a pocket with
ease. The next major part is Soloshot which is the camera component itself that
will follow wherever you carry the Tag. As long as you are within range of
around 600 meters, Soloshot will continue to direct the camera to you.
600 meters? Don't worry, you won't look too small in the
video because Soloshot 3 has been accompanied by two lens options with a very
long range: Optic25 (25x optical zoom) or Optic65 (65x optical zoom). Both of
them bring 1/2.3 inch image sensor with 12 megapixel resolution, but the
difference is the Optic65 can record videos in 4K 30 fps or 1080p 120 fps.
The main part of Soloshot is called the Base. In this case,
there are two options that can be chosen by the consumers: Standard or Pro.
They both can be fitted with the Optic65 or Optic25 lenses, as well as other
cameras with the help of an adapter. However, with the Pro version, user can
even pair a larger camera like DSLR camera.
If you want to take video from a different angle, you just
need to move the Soloshot together with its tripod, then it will continuously
direct the camera towards you who have brought the Tag component.
Interestingly, Soloshot 3 has supported livestreaming
function. Or if you want to finish the recording session in advance, the
Soloshot companion app later can also perform automatic editing based on
moments that have been marked during the recording process - you can also give
marks manually by tapping the Tag three times.
Soloshot 3 itself is actually the third iteration; the
developers claim that they have received a lot of feedback from the users of
previous version in order to create a more perfect robotic camera.
About the price, there are three
kinds of bundle offered: 1) Soloshot 3 + Optic25 for $ 599, 2) Soloshot 3 +
Optic65 for $ 899, and 3) Soloshot 3 Pro + Camera Adapter for $ 699, not
including the camera components. According to the plan Soloshot 3 will be launched
in the spring of this year.
