Livestream, the New York-based company that's engaged in the
same field with Periscope and Meerkat feels that the quality of livestreaming
video needs to be upgraded by using a separate device.
Finally the idea leads to the creation of Movi. Movi is a
tube-shaped camera that's designed specifically for livestreaming activities.
Inside the camera there is a 12.4 megapixel sensor which can record and
broadcast a live video in 720p 30 fps.
Movi is quite compact with a diameter of 50 mm and height 63
mm. Overall, its weigh is only 130 grams. Movi can record and broadcast the
video for about 1 hour, but Livestream will also offer a separate accessory
called Movi Boost that can provide extra durability for 10 hours - this
accessory also brings Ethernet port and USB so that the user can forward the
internet connection directly to the camera.
The front part of Movi is dominated by the f / 2.8 lens with
150 degrees viewing angle, complete with stereo microphone on the bottom. Movi
has no screen, but user can use the smartphone as a viewfinder and also to set
a wide range of settings offered.
The Movi companion app has a number of features that are
specific to the livestreaming activities. User can adjust the portion of video that
will be recorded or broadcasted. Then there is also a kind of autopilot mode
where the video will be edited automatically using face detection technology
and scene detection.
Furthermore, the same application can also control more than
one Movi camera in the same time. This scenario would be ideal when an indie
band wants to broadcast a jamming session in a studio that's taken from
different angles.
Livestream Movi is actually intended for commercial needs,
however with its affordable price, the general consumers can also enjoy its
features with ease. Movi is offered at a price of $ 199, but the price will
rise to $ 399 when the pre-order period ends. Livestream also provides Movi Pro
bundle for $ 399 - the retail price is $ 649 - which includes Movi Boost and
Movi Stand.
