After Panasonic, Fujifilm is now presenting a rival for Sony
RX100 IV. Named Fujifilm X70, this is the tiniest camera on the X-Series line
which brings the APS-C sensor - indeed there is a smaller variant, namely XQ2,
but the size of the sensor is not as big as this new variant.
Fujifilm X70 has a dimension of 112.5 x 64.4 x 44.4 mm, with
a total weight of 340 grams. It is still a little bit bigger than the Sony
RX100 IV, but it brings larger sensor - The Sony RX100 wears 1 inch sensor,
while the Fujifilm X70 carries the APS-C sensor, the same size with the sensor
of Fujifilm's mirrorless cameras and entry-class DSLR cameras.
So what is the benefit of this large sensor? The answer is
its performance in low light conditions. The larger the sensor, the better the
image results that are taken in dimly conditions, moreover, the sensor of X70
uses the X-Trans II technology just like in the Fujifilm X-T1, X-T10, X-E2 and
so forth.
This sensor has a resolution of 16.3 megapixels and maximum
ISO sensitivity of 51 200. The image results will be the same with the image
results of Fujifilm mirrorless cameras line, while the videos can be recorded
in a maximum resolution of 1080p 60 fps.
Accompanying the sensor is the 18.5 mm f/2.8 wide-angle
lens. This is a fixed lens, aka can't be zoomed, but Fuji is promising sharp
results from the middle to the end. Rounding this lens, there is a pair of
aluminum rings to adjust focus and aperture so that the operation could be
easier.
Fujifilm also embeds phase-detection technology into X70,
making it possible to lock the focus on moving objects in 0.1 seconds. In
short, the less likely you will lose the precious moments, especially X70 can
be used directly 0.5 seconds after the On / Off button is pressed.
Fujifilm X70 is getting interesting with the presence of
3-inch touch screen on the back, which means the user can set the focus by
simply touching the screen. This is the first time for the Fujifilm X-Series line
in using a touch screen, and this touch screen can be rotated 180 degrees
facing forward for selfie!
In the top panel, there is a pair of knobs to adjust the
shutter speed and exposure compensation. At the same time, there is also an
Auto lever where the camera will adjust the lighting conditions automatically
when taking a picture, it is ideal for the beginners.
Fujifilm X70 is offered at a price of $ 700, and will be
marketed starting in February 2016.
