The drone that's used for SAR (Search and Rescue) or
agricultural purposes indeed sounds more special. This field is not for the
majority of consumers, but that doesn't make DJI as the world's leading
manufacturer of drones will set it aside just like that.
DJI is preparing a new device to make its drones will be
able to serve well in rescue scenarios. DJI works together with a company
that's capable in the field of thermal imaging technology, FLIR Systems, in
order to develop a heat detection camera for drones.
The camera will be named Zenmuse XT. It is compatible with
DJI Inspire 1 or matrices M100, the same as the mirrorless camera, Zenmuse X5.
It also means Zenmuse XT will be equipped with stabilization technology of the
drone's gimbal and also Lightbridge signal transmission technology that has a
very far distance.
The thermal detection technology of FLIR can produce images
with a resolution up to 640 x 512 pixels. Because it can monitor the
temperature of an object, the camera can basically see in the dark as well as
in a fog or heavy smoke, so it would be ideal for firefighters or other
inspection teams.
The presence of this thermal detection technology will open
wider usage of drones. There is no information related to the price of Zenmuse
XT camera, but according to the plan, it will be released in the first quarter
of 2016. At the same time, DJI also stated that in the future there will be
more products from the collaboration between DJI and FLIR Systems.
