If we look at the action cameras on the market today, they
often make the GoPro as a reference of specifications. Even some of them make
the GoPro as direct reference in the terms of design, as done by the
manufacturer named Cyclops Gear.
Cyclops Gear has been known for its sunglasses and goggles
that are equipped with cameras. But seeing the rapid development of action cam
market, the company from Denver, US apparently also wants to try to expand its
breakthrough to this segment, and as a result the Cyclops Gear CGX2 was born.
Seeing its name, we already know that this is not the first
time Cyclops Gear is designing an action cam. Therefore, this second generation
of Cyclops Gear's action camera should be more capable than its predecessor.
Cyclops Gear CGX2 looks so much like the GoPro Hero 4
Silver, the differences lay in the position of the buttons, the color of the
body, and of course the Cyclops Gear logo itself. Cyclops Gear has equipped the
CGX2 with 12 megapixel sensor that's capable of recording video at 1080p
resolution. There is also 4K recording option, but unfortunately it's limited
at 15 fps.
If compared to GoPro Hero4 Silver, the recording features of
CGX2 are still less complete, even so, the users are still able to activate
various modes, ranging from burst shot to slow motion in high speed. Unlike
GoPro Hero4 Silver, the 2 inch LCD screen of CGX2 apparently is not equipped
with a touch panel, so it only functions as a viewfinder.
Fortunately, Cyclops Gear can cover the shortcomings by
providing various accessory options; one of them is the waterproof remote which
is very useful when the camera is used for surfing or other activities that
involve water. Of course, there are a number of mounts for various purposes - 9
types - plus a waterproof case with resistance up to 50 meters.
Cyclops Gear CGX2 is offered at a price of $ 300, making it
as interesting alternative to replace the GoPro.
