After about a year undergoing beta testing stage, Nvidia
Grid game streaming service is finally ready to run. At the same time, the
service apparently also receives a new name: GeForce Now.
Indeed there's not much thing has changed from Nvidia Grid
to GeForce Now in addition to its name. Nvidia describes it as the
"Netflix of games", and just like Netflix, this service has a lot of
competitors, including PlayStation Now and GameFly.
However, Nvidia doesn't seem to worry if its game streaming
service will lose with the two big competitors. With so proud, Nvidia shows a
comparison table between the GeForce Now, PlayStation Now and GameFly on its
official website.
If seen from the table, it is clear that the performance is
a major advantage of GeForce Now. As we know, Nvidia has built a server that's
powered by top-class GPU to run PC games in the best quality. And all that can
be streamed in resolution of 1080p 60 fps, with one condition that your
internet connection could reach 50 Mbps - under it, the quality is declining to
be 720p 60 fps or lower.
GeForce Now can be enjoyed by the owners of Nvidia Shield
line: Shield Portable, Shield Tablet, and Shield Console. Nvidia promises a
free trial for 3 months - far longer than the competitors - and the monthly
cost is only $ 8.
Regarding to the quantity of games available, GeForce Now
probably is still less than the PlayStation Now. But Nvidia has promised that
the AAA titles will be coming soon. One of them is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,
which is still fairly new.
