InFocus Kangaroo

The name of InFocus will remind us to various types of DLP and projectors in a variety of forms. But actually there are many types of devices produced by this company; generally they are intended to sustain productivity. You may have heard about the new version of Mondopad, and now InFocus seems interested to play in the mini-PC segment.

Under the leadership of CEO Mark Husley, InFocus introduces its first mini PC named Kangaroo. The producer from Oregon describes the Kangaroo as the smallest and most powerful portable Windows 10 PC in the world, presenting the performance of a desktop device with the convenience and mobility factors just like a cell phone, you only need to add peripheral and display to use it.

There are interesting things related to the naming and design. Mobile devices seem to inspire the design of Kangaroo. This mini PC has a flat rectangular shape, with a dimension of 124×80.5mm, 12.9mm thickness, and weighs only 200 grams. This size allows Kangaroo to be placed in your pocket - as if implying how the kangaroo mother securing its baby in the pouch.

Indeed its size is not as small as the stick PC that's quite popular today, but the Director of Product Marketing Lawrence Yen feels very confident with the advantages of Kangaroo: this mini PC is compatible to almost all devices, can be used at home as a family entertainment center, supporting mild data activity, or bring it to presentations. InFocus bundles the Kangaroo together with Windows 10 64-bit.

Kangaroo has two modes: Computing and Base. Computing is the central unit that's equipped with essential basic connection (microSD and micro USB) and features a fingerprint scanner. Inside, this mini PC carries 2.24GHz Intel Atom Cherrytrail x5-Z8500 SoC, Intel Graphics Gen8 GPU, 2GB LPDDR3 RAM, 32GB eMMC storage and an internal battery that can keep the Kangaroo remain active for approximately four hours.

Additionally, Kangaroo connectivity includes USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, and dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

"We wanted to create something that is incredibly affordable, portable and allows you to access Windows 10 and all of your files – from work to media - on any device," said Yen. "You can access any file, any time without worrying about access to a network, upload and download times or file corruption. With its power, capacity and features, Kangaroo will change the definition of mobile computing."

InFocus Kangaroo is sold for only US $ 99, available now at Newegg, and soon in the Microsoft Store Online in mid of November 2015.
