Facebook users open the notifications tab at least one time
in each day, but it's likely that this frequency will increase due to the
recent update for Facebook notifications feature.
If previously we access the notifications tab to see updates
from colleagues, family or page that we like, later we will see more diverse
contents there. The variations of contents will be presented in the form of
cards row just like in the Google Now.
What are the extra contents offered? It can be weather
forecast on your location, local events, films that are screened at theaters,
the scores of football team that you like, or even a list of restaurants that should
be tried, complete with the links to the pages which contain visitors’ reviews.
Maybe we think that the addition of those contents will make
the notifications tab looks 'crowded', but fortunately users can customize
anything related to the type of cards they want to see in the notifications tab.
And the location-based information will require you to enable Location History
feature first.
The notifications from friends and family won't be changed,
but when you scroll down, you will see a row of cards as mentioned above. So
practically Facebook notifications will become second News Feed for the
majority of users.
The update of Facebook notifications feature will be
released gradually in the United States. The good news is this update will be
presented in the Android and iOS versions at once, unlike the other Facebook's
experimental features which usually only involved the iPhone users.
