The current trend that's brought by the music streaming
services today is the content curation. Apple Music for example, it relies the
content curation based on the tastes of the music editors who have been
recruited by Apple, not based on algorithm design of a programmer. The point is
if you want to compete in this competition, you shouldn't underestimate the
curation.
Google Play Music also does the same thing; this service
offers an array of playlist that's customized with the activity or the mood of
its loyal customers. Without curation, the music streaming service is not much
different from a digital music store; it's just that the business model relies
on the subscription method.
Starting from the principle of
curation above all else, Google wants to experiment with podcasts. Through a
blog post, Google announces that the podcast will be available to Google Play
Music. And of course, the podcast contents will be presented in the form of
curation.
This means customers of Google Play
Music can easily find a podcast that's suitable with the activities done, mood
or individual tastes. Even the Google Play Music will offer comedy podcast
category to you.
