Trying to unite art, high fashion and technology, the
Looksee Labs team introduces Eyecatcher through Kickstarter. This is a
futuristic fashion bracelet where users can define their own images, patterns,
or illustrations to be displayed on the screen. But interestingly, the
developer also provides smart device features.
Eyecatcher is made from a combination of plastic and metal
with semi-flexible structure so that it can be easily attached to the wrist. A
5-inch electrophoretic display dominates the surface. To be able to withstand
the water splashes, Looksee Labs utilizes non-toxic nano-coating material, plus
a design without physical button.
Eyecatcher configuration is done entirely through the
companion application. By using a smartphone, you are welcome to choose a picture
and upload it to the device. It's powered by 100mAh battery that can last up to
one year - or displays about 8,000 updates. Eyecatcher also has a build-in 8MB
memory, so user can store 12 images without the need to connect this bracelet
to the handset.
Eyecatcher can deliver notification app, calendar and stock
prices, showing maps, text messages, news, and also activity tracker, all in
real-time. This smart bracelet is equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy and
MicroUSB port. Its E-ink display has a ratio of 6:1 with a 150ppi density, and
with black and white colors or 16 level grayscale.
Looksee Labs provides the Eyecatcher in three types: Mars
(stainless steel) for men, Mercury (white bronze) and Venus (silver) for women.
They are also divided in three sizes: large, medium and small. Currently, the
Eyecatcher is only compatible with iPhone 4 and iPad to the latest version,
hopefully the support for Android devices will soon follow.
Eyecatcher is planned to be marketed in the retail price
range of US $ 400 to US $ 500, but if you order it now on Kickstarter, you just
need to spend money ranging from US $ 239.
