Logitech through its subsidiary, Ultimate Ears, created a
Bluetooth speaker called UE Boom. Now two years later, the UE Boom 2 is created
by bringing improvements in almost all aspects.
Physical the UE Boom 2 is now much more powerful than its
predecessor. It's now fully waterproof with the IPX7 certification, and it's
also resilient despite falling from a height of about 1.5 meters. The size is
not much different from a drink bottle, so that users can slip it into the
bottle's container on the bike frame or put it to a backpack.
UE Boom 2 still maintains the 360-degree sound reproduction
that's introduced by its predecessor. But now the UE Boom 2 has 25 percent
louder volume, and its Bluetooth connectivity reaches about 33 meters. If you
want, you can connect a UE Boom 2 speaker with another Ultimate Ears' speaker
to get the stereo effect from one audio source.
UE Boom 2 battery is claimed can last up to 15 hours
nonstop. But the most interesting feature is the touch-based control on the
speaker's top surface: one tap to play / pause and two tap to skip to the next
song. Previously all controls must be done through the companion app on the
smartphone.
However, if you prefer to control it via smartphone, this
feature is still provided on the UE Boom 2. Logitech and Ultimate Ears promise
to enhance this Bluetooth speaker continuously via firmware update, which can
be forwarded wirelessly through the companion application.
UE Boom 2 is planned to be sold starting in this September
for $ 200. It comes in six color variations: Cherrybomb, Yeti, Phantom,
GreenMachine, Tropical and BrainFreeze.
