Reportedly Twitter is testing a new feature that allows
users to hold a poll through a tweet. For now this feature can only be accessed
by a number of selected users, and seems quite exclusive because not all
verified accounts get a chance to try it.
The button to activate this polling feature can be found on
the web version of Twitter compose window, precisely in the next of the media
and location buttons. From there the users can create a poll which consists of
two options, A or B.
All Twitter users can participate in a poll within 24 hours
since the poll was made. Twitter will show you the remaining time, the number
of people who have given the votes, and the percentage of voters for each
option.
This is actually not the first time Twitter experimenting
with polling feature. Last year, many users had participated in the polling for
Oscar event, but the feature could be accessed only through mobile application.
On another occasion, the Twitter support (@support) had ever used the polling
feature to get feedbacks from users.
Twitter hasn't revealed whether this feature will be
available to all users or not. But one thing is certain; the Twitter polling
can only be created and accessed via the official application and Twitter web
interface.
Surely there will be a lot of benefits that can be taken
from this feature if Twitter really implements it later. When there is a hot
issue for example, we can see the percentage of users’ opinions through the
polling result. Even if it was just available for certain accounts, at least we
have found a new way to interact on Twitter.
