Pebble, a company that has successfully produced several
wearable devices again makes a new breakthrough by releasing its first rounded
smartwatch, Pebble Time Round. This new smartwatch is iteration of Pebble Time
but with different appearance and shape.
In the official announcement, Pebble claims that this
rounded smartwatch is the thinnest and lightest smartwatch in the world, it has
a thickness of only 7,5mm and weights 28gram. Much thinner and lighter than the
Apple Watch that has a thickness of 10.5 mm and weights from 25 grams to 69
grams.
But the smaller size has an impact on the battery capacity
that can be accommodated by this smartwatch. With normal use, Pebble Time Round
can only survive for two days, compared to Pebble Time Steel which can reach 10
days.
It means that Pebble Time Round needs to be recharged more
often, but fortunately for addressing this need, Pebble has equipped this
smartwatch with the quick-charge technology that can provide power for one day,
only with 15 minutes recharging.
Just like its predecessors, Pebble Time Round still carries
e-paper display technology. The difference is it is not completely waterproof
but claimed to be good enough to overcome water splash or sweat. Pebble
provides some sizes for the straps, ranging from 14mm to 20mm. Likewise about
the colors, there are several options such as Black, Silver, and a special
edition, Rose Gold.
Pebble Round Time can now be ordered through the pre-order
scheme through the official website Pebble.com, Best Buy, Target, and Amazon
for $ 249. Pebble also offers an additional discount of $ 50 if the consumers
add Pebble Time Steel in their orders.
Delivery of this new device will be done in November for the
United States, then to England before the end of this year, and Europe in 2016.
