Are you ready to try a new thing? Facebook has just launched a new cutting-edge feature in the form of 360-degree video that will appear in the news feed of its service. With this feature, Facebook users can enjoy video from different angles on the desktop or smartphone.
It works just like the 360 degree video in the YouTube
service. Users can simply use finger or the cursor to explore the video through
a desired viewing angle. It allows users to see all captured objects in the
video, not only from one angle.
To introduce this new feature, Facebook has been holding
several publishers to take action. Some of them are Star Wars, Discovery,
GoPro, LeBron James & Uninterrupted, NBC, and Vice. Through those
publishers, the users can find video contents in a format that's completely
new, such as watching video footage of Star Wars: The Force Awakens from Disney
and Lucasfilm, see the annual festival in Brazil, animal migration in Africa,
and others.
In the future, Facebook hopes that there are more video
creators who join with this feature so the content scope presented will be
increasingly diverse.
The Facebook's step to present the 360 degree video is
actually not a big surprise. Since the F8 Developer Conference event some time
ago, Facebook has shown signs to try this segment. Don't forget that Facebook
has a golden product in VR headset industry, i.e. Oculus, which has an ability
to operate this type of video. It’s just the Oculust Rift VR headset hasn't
been widely marketed.
For those of you who want to try this new support can try it
on Android app and desktop. For iOS devices have to wait for few months to
enjoy this feature.
