Alcatel reputation in smartphone realm might not be as
famous as before when the feature phone was still rising, but it doesn't
prevent this French manufacturer to compete in the segment that so far is still
dominated by the big names such as Apple and Samsung.
Starting from the middle of last year, Alcatel introduced a
new smartphone line named Alcatel Flash with unique approach, i.e. selling
exclusively online. This line then continued up to the next variant called
Alcatel Flash Plus.
Alcatel Flash Plus was quite successful, during the
marketing process, the Alcatel Flash Plus managed to sell 100 units every minute;
this could be achieved because this smartphone emphasized the balance between
camera performance and affordable price.
Now Alcatel comes with the successor of Alcatel Flash.
Called as Alcatel Flash 2, this smartphone promises camera quality above average.
The rear camera packs 13 megapixel sensors with ISOCELL technology that's
designed by Samsung, besides that this camera is also equipped with phase
detection autofocus technology, f / 2.0 lens and dual-tone LED flash. On paper,
this rear camera specification is usually found in flagship smartphones,
moreover it's also accompanied with a separate shutter button that's located on
the side of the body.
Like its predecessor, Alcatel Flash 2 also emphasizes on the
selfie feature. Here, Alcatel gives a 5 megapixel front camera with f/2.2 lens.
Why is it only 5 megapixels? Because the sensor size is enlarged to be 1/4 inch,
this indicates that the quality of images produced in low light condition will
be better than any other smartphones or even from the Alcatel Flash Plus which
brought 8 megapixels front camera. Referring to the name, the front camera of
Alcatel Flash 2 is also accompanied with an LED flash. The blend of all these
components makes Alcatel feels confident to call it as a profile camera.
Alcatel Flash 2 is equipped with Mediatek chipset that packs
1.3 GHz octa-core processor 64-bit, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage - plus
128 GB microSD support which can be purchased separately. Everything is
packaged in the contoured frame that's claimed will be ideal for all hand
sizes.
On the front, you will be greeted by a 5-inch IPS screen at
resolution of 1280 x 720. Again, the screen size is selected to make the
Alcatel Flash 2 feels comfortable in the hand, especially with a slightly
curved shape at the back. Alcatel Flash 2 is equipped with dual SIM card slots
that are compatible with 4G/LTE network. Alcatel Flash 2 runs with Android 5.1
Lollipop operating system. A mature combination of hardware and software will
provide optimal performance; especially it's powered by 3000mAh battery.
Another interesting thing is the presence of the green ring
around the rear camera of Alcatel Flash 2. This section apparently becomes a
symbol of changes of Alcatel Flash's philosophy that's previously represented by
blue color. The green color is considered able to give fresher and natural
impression (Alcatel Flash 2 design that looks compact and ergonomic), and full
of energy (the camera performance which is above the average).
