Do you still remember with the Razer Nabu? The smartband
from the giant PC peripherals company apparently is re-released. Razer thinks
that this is a necessary step to be done because the early version of Razer
Nabu hadn't touched the widely consumers despite it had been introduced more
than a year ago, precisely at CES 2014.
Since the release of the first version, Razer has received a
lot of feedback from the Razer Nabu users. Therefore, in this re-launch, Razer
Nabu comes with a new design which is believed can simplify the operation.
One of the most prominent changes is, Razer Nabu is no
longer equipped with two screens just like before, but there's only one
monochrome OLED screen with a resolution of 128 x 16 pixels. In addition, the
operation button is now placed on the top of screen to make it easier to be
reached by the user.
Razer Nabu is also designed splashes resistant, but not to
be brought into water. The battery is claimed can last up to six days nonstop,
and the connectivity is still relied on Bluetooth 4.0 to connect the smartband to
Android or iOS devices without excessive power drain.
Razer Nabu is still carrying capability of tracking fitness
and sleep tracking which will run automatically when the users sleep. But Razer
Nabu uniqueness lies in its social aspect. By bringing the tagline "Social
Wearable", Razer Nabu allows the information exchange among social media
users simply by shaking hands.
So, for example there are two users of Razer Nabu, they can
shake hands to exchange Facebook or Twitter contact. Not only that, users can
also exchange information about their physical activities. But more interestingly,
Razer has planned multiplayer game function that's being done together with the
developer.
For the iOS users, Razer Nabu can also be used to set the
music and also as a remote shutter to control the camera remotely. All settings
on the single button function can be performed via Razer Nabu companion app on
the smartphone.
Razer has scheduled the pre-order of Razer Nabu on September
15, for $ 100. Razer also offers Nabu X which provides the same functions, but
is not equipped with a screen, it's offered for $ 50.
