On August 18, 2015, LINE officially released the lite
version of its messaging application to the global market. Named as LINE Lite,
this application is intended for the users of low-spec Android smartphones, as
well as for those who stay in the area with slow internet network, much like
the concept of Facebook Lite.
The most striking difference between LINE Lite and the standard
LINE is on its size; LINE Lite is only measuring less than 1 MB, so it will not
burden the users who have slow internet connection. Users can register a new
account through the LINE Lite, or sign in with an existing LINE account.
In addition to size, there are a number of differences from
the LINE Lite compared with the standard version. LINE Lite still brings core
features, including group chat and sharing stickers or drawings. However, a
number of other features, such as audio call, video call and Timeline must be
removed. Nevertheless, LINE Lite is promised to get new features in the future.
LINE Lite itself previously had been launched in 11
countries. In this limited launch, the response seems quite positive, so LINE
feels that this is the time to bring this lite version to users in other
countries. Those who are interested in using this LINE lite, you can download
it directly through Google Play.
