As we know, Fitbit is one of the most popular brands in the
fitness tracker segment. In its second-quarter financial report, it's noted
that this US Company was able to sell 4.5 million devices during the second-quarter
of 2015. From there we can figure out that Fitbit has a large user base.
Armed with the large data collection, recently Fitbit
introduces a feature called Fitbit Activity Index. The Fitbit Activity Index is
basically almost similar to Google Trends, but it focuses on sporting
activities, where the displayed information is taken based on different
demographic.
The data is taken from more than 1 million users who live in
the US, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. Overall, running still
becomes the most preferred choice of users to maintain their fitness, and then
followed by biking. Running is also considered as the most effective way to
burn calories, with an average of 305 calories per 30 minute.
On the other hand, yoga is still the first choice for those
who like to exercise in groups. Women still dominate the group's activities,
especially indoor activities such as Pilates, while men prefer to choose
basketball or soccer.
In addition to providing a clear picture about the latest
fitness trends, Fitbit Activity Index also provides some new ideas that can be
tried by the users. The goal is to make the users more motivated to live a
healthy lifestyle.
