The function of surveillance camera is of course to
monitoring the house’s situation constantly. However, do you really need the
surveillance camera for 24 hours?
A startup from US assumes that the constant supervision is
not an efficient way to secure the house. With this assumption, this startup
then creates a smart surveillance camera that's claimed to be able to
understand the appropriate time to record the condition around the house.
Named Butterfleye, the features that are brought by this
camera are actually not much different than the majority of other surveillance
cameras. In addition to video recording with 1080p resolution, it also brings
motion detection sensor, sound detector and streaming feature via mobile
application.
But what makes Butterfleye different is its ability to
analyze the conditions in the house. It's equipped with a sophisticated
algorithm that's claimed to be able to recognize the faces of the homeowners
and also their pets. When homeowners do their activities around the house,
Butterfleye won't do its job to keep an eye on the house.
Even when the house is empty, Butterfleye will still be in
the idle position. But when it detects unfamiliar sound or movements, or
unknown faces, it will immediately start recording the condition of the house.
So, rather than record continuously until the battery runs
out within hours, Butterfleye will only record when there is something odd is
going on. In this way, Butterfleye battery can last longer, even for weeks in
the idle position.
Butterfleye can operate even if it's not connected to the
internet. It's equipped with internal storage feature which can store the
videos up to 12 hours. When there is internet access, it will upload the
monitoring results to the cloud so that you can monitor the situation remotely
via a smartphone.
Efficiency is the key word of Butterfleye. If you are
interested, you can order it through Indiegogo for $ 199, plus $ 30 for
international shipping costs.
