As one of the pioneers of the mirrorless camera trend,
Olympus seems to move fast in 2015. In early February, they have introduced the
sequel of Olympus OM-D E-M5. And this time this company introduces a new
variant: Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II.
Just like its predecessor, the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II is
one of the smallest mirrorless cameras today. This camera has a dimension of
120 x 83 x 47 mm, weighs about 390 grams, including the battery and memory
card. Nevertheless, this camera offers a control level that's equivalent to
DSLR camera.
Olympus gives big attention to the handling of this camera.
The construction of Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II is now made of metals, including
some dials that are placed on the top plate. The design of Olympus OM-D E-M10
Mark II has been revised so that users can operate this camera more easily.
Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II brings 5-axis image stabilization
system that's identical to the system that's brought by OM-D E-M1 and OM-D E-M5
which have bigger sizes and more expensive prices. Simply put, this feature
will prevent blur as much as possible when shooting images without a tripod.
Other improvement is also given to the electronic viewfinder
(EVF) feature that's located at the rear of the camera. The EVF of Olympus OM-D
E-M10 Mark II is now packed with OLED panel with a resolution of 2.36 million
dots, so that the displayed image will certainly look sharper.
But if you are not interested in using the EVF, there is
still a 3-inch LCD screen that's equipped with touch panel so you can adjust
the focus just like when you are taking pictures by using a smartphone.
Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II can take multiple images at a
speed of 8.5 fps. Ideal when you want to capture fast actions, especially if
it's combined with a shutter speed of 1 / 4,000 sec.
Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II brings a 16 megapixel sensor and
TruePic VII processor which's similar to that's held by OM-D E-M5 Mark II. So,
basically the resulting images will be sharp, and the video can be recorded in
a maximum resolution of 1080p 60 fps. The difference is there is no shooting
option of Hi-Res 40 megapixels.
Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II can be obtained for $ 650 (body
only) or $ 800 together with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, and this camera is ready
to be marketed starts from early September 2015.
