Do you still remember with the Flir One, a unique casing
that can turn your iPhone into a heat detector? Now the same company proudly
introduces the second generation of thermography camera.
The second generation of Flir One is no longer a casing for
the iPhone, but rather a separate accessory weighs 32 grams which is mounted
directly on the Lightning connector. With this new design, the developer can
bring its Android version, which utilizes Micro USB connector. Flir One still
carries its own battery so you don't need to worry if it will take the
smartphone's battery power.
Not only adopting a new design, Flir One second generation
is now also brings a more powerful sensor. It is now able to 'see' objects with
temperature of -20 to 120 degrees Celsius. The filming technique is still the
same, but the resolution of the resulting image is now claimed to be increased
four times more than the first generation.
In addition to hardware improvements, the Flir One developer
apparently also wants to improve its software performance by cooperating with
other developers. A new SDK (Software Development Kit) for iOS and Android is
presented to allow other developers to design a variety of creative
applications that can maximize the potential of Flir One's thermal imaging.
At the same time, Flir One also presents a more complete
companion app. Through this app, users can specify the color palette as well as
enable various modes such as timelapse and panorama. In addition, pictures
taken by Flir One can also be shared to social networking directly.
In essence, Flir One is designed to allow you to see
something that can't be seen by bare eyes by using heat detector. The easiest
example is when you are in the dark or in areas that are shrouded in fog or
heavy smoke.
The iOS version of Flir One is now sold for $ 250 through
the official website (flir.co.uk/home). Its Android version is expected to be
available soon in July at the same price.
