When traveling out of town by car, we often encounter
container trucks on the road. On the highway, overtaking a truck container may
not be a big problem, but on the narrow street, this action is very dangerous.
Not because the container truck is running quickly so it's
difficult to overtake it, but because its size is so big and long. And most of
all, you can't see what is in front of the truck.
In Argentina, it is estimated that one person dies every
hour due to traffic accidents, and most happen when there is a car overtaking
other car. Seeing this condition, Samsung Argentina thinks that they need to do
something. They change their container trucks into the prototypes of SafetyTruck.
As the name implies, Samsung Safety Truck is designed to
prioritize the safety of driving. Each truck is equipped with a camera on the
front. The camera is connected to four monitors to be placed in the rear of the
container. Simply put, what is in front of the truck can be seen by drivers who
are behind the truck, even when in the night.
Thus, motorists who want to overtake will get better view
about the road condition. The idea is very simple, but potentially save many
lives on the streets. Looking ahead, before being developed further, Samsung Safety Truck will first undergo a variety of tests in order to follow certain
standards in the concerned countries.
