In addition to showing off a row
of new games for Xbox One, Microsoft is also utilizing the E3 2015 stage to
introduce a new hardware. No ... it's not a new-generation of Xbox, but the
professional version of its controller.
As we know, the Xbox One
controller is quite popular even among PC gamers. Last week, Oculus officially
announced that Rift sales package will include the Xbox One controller unit,
which is compatible with the console and PC.
The pro version of the controller
is called Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. According to their press release,
Microsoft is collaborating with a number of professional gamers in working on
this new generation controller.
Because it is dedicated for the
hardcore gamers, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller offers very complete
customizations, starting from the sensitivity of the trigger and thumbsticks,
until remapping button that can be accessed through a companion application on
the console or Windows 10 - similar to that's offered by gaming keyboard or
gaming mouse in general.
At the rear, there are 4 slots to
tether the paddles. These paddles can be configured into a wide variety of
inputs. Thus, your thumbs can continue to focus on the thumbsticks while
pressing the paddles using the middle finger or ring finger.
In addition to
the customization option, Microsoft apparently also provides modular elements
into this new controller. You can change the standard D-pad into another form,
while a pair of thumbsticks is offered in three variants - everything is
included in the sales package and stored neatly in a carrying case.
In terms of
design, the shape of this controller is not changed dramatically compared to
the standard Xbox One controller. However, the material that's used for this
controller is more premium and durable, for example the thumbstick levers are
made of stainless steel, and a pair of grips is also coated with rubber texture
so that the grips will feel more solid.
Xbox Elite Wireless Controller is offered at a price of $ 150, unfortunately you have to
be patience because this new controller will be marketed starting in October
2015.
