In addition to affecting mood, medical practitioners agree
that getting enough sleep can help to avoid heart attack, diabetes and obesity.
This realization makes people more concerned about the quality of sleep, also
encourages some inventors to create devices that can help people to get a
quality sleep. An inventor named Tim Anstos believes that the audio is a
powerful medium to relax.
As we know some health clinics utilize audio-based
techniques to treat sleep disorders, and there are millions of people who turn
to music to cope with stress. Anstos attempts to bring this solution into a
personal device, through a familiar approach. Together with his colleagues he
develops Kokoon. With its unique technology and design, Kokoon is claimed to be
the first headphone that allows user to sleep easily, and in the end, to boost
memory capability.
Kokoon is a smart headphone that’s able to find out when the
user falls asleep, and then configure the audio setting when the user sleeps or
awakes. Developer equips this device with EEG (electroencephalogram) sensor circuit;
its function is to detect the electricity generated by brain. This technology
is often presented by a hospital or clinic, but the version that's created by
Anstos and his colleagues doesn't require the setup process.
Combined with modern smartphone technology, Kokoon is
capable of presenting algorithms to help relaxation. It will adjust the volume
and equalization depending on your consciousness, and then adapts to block
external sounds that can potentially disrupt your sleep. Via the application,
you can also understand the most optimal audio technique personally.
Each person has a different rest cycle, and Kokoon's smart
alarm will wake you up at the best time. The system ensures user to wake up at
fresh condition. You can even use the app to maximize the quality of nap in a
short time. The software saves music library technology that evolves following
the usage patterns.
Headphones are generally not designed for use while sleeping,
because of course it will feel uncomfortable, but Kokoon carries FlexMould
Comfort system that's inspired from the pillow and high-tech sports shoes. The
shape follows the contours of user's head, spreading pressure zone in order to
avoid sensitive areas. It also plays a role as an extra pillow in the ears so
it feels very comfortable.
About the output quality, you don't need to worry because
Kokoon team has collaborated with Onkyo, the Japanese company that specially
produces home cinema and sound products. If you are interested, you can order
the Kokoon on Kickstarter starts from US $ 159, the product will soon be sent
to the backers in February 2016.
