One week before Apple Music starts
its debut, Google gives a little surprise for their streaming service, Google Play Music.
During this time, users of Google
Play Music who didn't subscribe could only use this service as a place to store
around 50,000 songs. But if the users paid $ 10 per month for subscription fee,
they would get a storage facility and at the same time got access to 30 million
songs which were available on Google Play Music catalog.
But now everything is changing,
Google Play Music can now be enjoyed freely. In other words, those who don't
pay a subscription fee can also enjoy millions of songs available in this
service, but in the forms of a number of radio stations and with advertising at
some points.
Interestingly, these radio
stations are the working results of Songza team which has been acquired by
Google in the middle of last year. Users can select a radio station based on
genre, mood, activity or decade.
Because this service is in the
form of radio stations, this means that the users of Google Play Music who
haven't subscribed can't find and play a specific song at any time. The
on-demand feature is still exclusively available only for users who pay $ 10 per
month for subscription fee.
Regardless of subscription matter,
the free version of Google Play Music will certainly heat up the competition of
streaming music industry. This free version will be rolled first in the United
States, and followed by other countries.
