Ford SYNC 3 infotainment system is now faster and easier to be operated

At the time when automotive manufacturers are vying to integrate the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Ford seems pretty confident with their own new-generation infotainment system, SYNC 3 - although based on Car and Driver report, this US car manufacturer is also planning to bring the compatibility of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the future.

Ford SYNC 3 brings a number of improvements from the previous generation. The touch screen which becomes the control center has now been equipped with a capacitive panel, presenting responsiveness that's claimed approaching the responsiveness of smartphone or tablet. The operation is now also relying on gestures just like the pinch-to-zoom and swiping.

The Ford SYNC 3 home screen display has been simplified; you can see three 'zones': Navigation, Audio and Phone. When you tap the app-launcher, a number of icons will appear in the form of grid that's easy to understand, giving you access to various functions in an instant.

A feature called One Box Search allows users to perform searches in an interface which is similar to the one in mobile devices. By utilizing this feature, users can search for contact data, address and various points of interest.

In addition to gesture-based operation, Ford SYNC 3 is also equipped with support for voice commands. This feature is ideal when combined with AppLink feature, where users can connect their smartphone, and then the compatible applications - especially multimedia applications - will be displayed automatically.

Furthermore, users can use these applications directly through the dashboard, using a touch screen or voice commands. As a bonus, Ford SYNC 3 also packs the integration of Siri Eyes-Free for users of Apple's iPhone. It means that you can call Siri simply by pressing a button on the steering wheel.

Ford SYNC 3 is planned to be released in the United States this summer, coinciding with the launch of the Ford Escape and Ford Fiesta 2016. In other words, this advanced infotainment system will also land on the dashboard of the most affordable Ford cars - a move that's rarely taken by other famous car manufacturers.
