Disney, a name that has always been associated with children's
world, wants to change the habits of modern children who tend to be passive
when playing with gadgets. Disney has recently introduced Disney Playmation, a new game system that utilizes a number of connected toys while
maximizing the imagination of children.
Made its debut, Disney Playmation will come in three
different popular themes: Avengers, Star Wars and Frozen. Playmation is not a
video game, this is a game system that has been equipped with the latest
technologies such as motion recognition sensor, Bluetooth, infrared and radio
frequency signals.
Everything plays a role in building a fantasy world that
comes from the children's imagination. For Avengers theme, there will be Iron
Man's Repulsor Gear that can be worn by the kid in his arm. Once used, the
voice of JARVIS will guide the kid in realizing his fantasies and doing the
mission with the Avengers team.
The child can then imagine the room as a battle field where
the enemies are waiting. The mission of the kid is of course to defeat the
enemies. But he is not alone, another child could also participate, plus
there's Captain America action figure to make the game feels more
exciting.
How does the child defeat the enemies? First of all, the
enemies will stand on the top of the component named Power Activator. The child
must direct his 'shot' to the Power Activator to hit the enemies. From a
technical perspective, Repulsor Gear and Power Activator are exchanging data
via technologies that have been embedded.
One interesting thing is Disney Playmation doesn't need internet
connection to be played by children. But when there is an internet connection,
they can take advantage of AvengersNet App on Android or iOS devices to monitor
the progress they have made (points, level, ability, etc.), as well as to
select the location and mission to be undertaken.
The idea that's brought by Disney Playmation is actually
simple, to provide a media for children to entertain themselves and in the same
time doing physical activities, rather than just sit down in front of gadget
screens or video games.
Playmation will go on sale in October 2015. The Playmation
Marvel's Avengers Starter Pack will be offered at $ 120, this package includes
five connected toys: Iron Man’s Repulsor Gear, 2 Power Activators, and 2 Smart
Figures (Captain America and Red Skull). Playmation Star Wars version will
follow next year, while Frozen version is still in development stage.
