RecPOP is Heads-Up Display which utilizes your smartphone

Along with the fast technology development and the need for navigation guide, there are more people who use smartphone to find a destination place. Holding a smartphone while driving is obviously very dangerous, it can break your concentration and make you less aware about the road condition.

Installing smartphone on a special mount on the dashboard can be a safer alternative. However, this seems less appropriate for those who have a small screen smartphone. Another solution is to use a heads-up display (HUD). The navigation guide will be displayed to the windshield of the car so that you only need to take a glance in order to see the instructions.

However, there are not many HUD devices on the market which is more effective than using a smartphone directly. Generally, HUD device involves a small screen which displays information in reverse condition, which will then be reflected to the windscreen so that it can be read by the driver.

A French company called RoadEyes wants to offer something different. Rather than relying on a reflection from HUD small screen, they want to move the smartphone display to a special mirror.

From that idea, the recPOP was born. This device looks like a router that's placed on the dashboard and takes energy from the adapter installed on the lighter. When connecting to a smartphone via Wi-Fi, recPOP will project anything that's displayed by the smartphone toward a 6.2 inch clear glass that's made of plastic.

This device is compatible with Android and iOS platforms. Ideally, you open Google Maps or Waze app on a smartphone, run the navigation function, and then put the smartphone in a smarthphone place. After that you can drive and see the navigation guide displayed by recPOP mirror.

As described above, recPOP can project any content on your smartphone screen. That means, in addition to the navigation guide from GPS applications, recPOP can also display the email, text messages, phone calls and much more. The embedded loudspeaker can help clarify the phone conversation, and also the voice instructions from the GPS applications. Those who are interested, recPOP now can be purchased from the RoadEyes official website for about $ 320.59.
