With 4K you can enjoy the visual content with pixel amount
four times bigger than 1080p resolution. Nevertheless, 4K content available is
still quite limited. Seeing such conditions, it won't be hurt if you make the
4K content by yourself. A number of recent smartphones have been equipped with
a camera that can record 4K video, but you still need a real camcorder to
produce impressive 4K video.
This latest offer of Canon can be an alternative for you.
Named Canon XC10, this camcorder is actually intended to be a companion for
Cinema EOS cameras that are commonly used by professional videographers.
However, if seen from its compact shape, the general consumers will also be
interested to get it.
In detail, Canon XC10 has a size of 125 x 102 x 122 mm, with
a weight of about 1,040 kg. At first glance, the shape looks more like a DSLR
camera than a camcorder. The main advantage of Canon XC10 lies on its 1 inch
CMOS sensor. This sensor can snap photos in a resolution of 12 megapixels, and
combined with the DIGIC DV5 processor, it can record 4K video at 30 fps.
The 4K video is recorded using the Canon XF AVC codec, with
bitrate reaches up to 305 Mbps. The use of this codec is believed able to
provide the right balance between image qualities and file size. One important
note is the required memory card is not carelessly: i.e. CFast 2.0 type.
In the terms of customization, Canon has equipped the XC10
with a color setting mode such as those held by Cinema EOS line. Among of them
are the Canon Log Gamma, Canon Wide DR and Canon EOS Standard.
Canon XC10 uses a fixed lens, or non removable. This lens
can take photos in the range of 24.1 to 241 mm, and videos in the range of 27.3
to 273 mm, with an aperture of f/2.8-5.6. When recording 1080p video, it will
activate the 5-axis image stabilization system.
At the rear, there is a 3-inch touch screen with a
resolution of 1.03 million dots. The position of screen can be manipulated as
needed, as well as its grip which can be rotated.
In terms of connectivity, Canon equips XC10 with Wifi
dual-band (2.4 and 5 GHz) so that the users can operate it from a distance,
either through a web browser, smartphone or tablet.
Canon XC10 is scheduled to go on sale in June 2015 for $
2,500. Indeed this price tag is quite high, but still below the professional
camcorder that can record 4K video in general.
