YouTube now supports live streaming 360 degree videos with spatial audio

After more than a year giving a support to the 360-degree video, YouTube is now ready to start a new chapter in the video trend: 360 degree live streaming video, presenting immersive experience of ongoing moment.

This support also becomes a gift from YouTube for music fans who could not attend the Coachella event that’s ongoing until April 24. Previously, YouTube had broadcasted that annual event live. But this year, precisely at the weekend, the performance of selected artists will be broadcasted live and in 360 degree view angle.

In theory, a combination of live video and immersive impression that's offered by 360-degree video will take the users as if they were watching the event directly, although in reality the users are relaxing at home while using Gear VR headset or Google Cardboard.

At the same time, Google also introduces a support for spatial audio, which is basically an audio presentation in three dimensions, where the users can recognize the point where the noise is coming and separation of every instrument will be more pronounced.

YouTube claims that the team has worked together with many parties so that the various software from companies such VideoStitch and Two Big Ears can be compatible with the platform. Simply put, the more software supported by Youtube, the more live 360 degree videos with spatial audio can be enjoyed.

As an introduction, YouTube has set up a special playlist "Immersive Videos With Spatial Audio" that contains 360-degree videos with spatial audio. One of examples can be watched below.
