When Tim Cook announced the Apple Watch, he was proudly to
call the device as the most personal device ever released by Apple. And now a company
based in Tokyo, Smartmedical, has an interesting idea to realize that personal
concept through an application called EmoWatch.
EmoWatch is designed for the Apple Watch, and its function
is to understand the mood of user. It will identify the user's voice, and then analyzes
the intonation, tones, speed and volume.
From there EmoWatch will try to guess the user's mood that's
divided into four simple categories: happy, sad, angry or calm. If your mood is
changing rapidly, EmoWatch will monitor it, featuring the pattern of mood
swings so you can manage your feeling in order not to be mad or sad constantly.
Interestingly, EmoWatch is claimed to be able to function
without language restriction. Smartmedical is explaining that what’s analyzed
by its application is the characteristic of the sound, not the literal meaning
of the words spoken by the user. Smartmedical has released the detection
technology APIs that can be used by the developers so they can maximize this
technology.
