Just over a month after the introduction of an integrated adblocker
feature, Opera is now making a surprise by embedding VPN (Virtual Private
Network) for free into its browser. Just like the adblocker, this is the first
time the VPN service is integrated into the browser by default.
The majority of VPN services so far require the users to pay
a subscription fee. The users of VPN services can access the Internet more
secure, and they can enjoy entertainment services that are not available in
their country.
According to data from the Global Web Index, there are at
least nearly a quarter of the world's Internet users who use VPN services. Most
common reasons given are for accessing better entertainment contents, and some
of them want to maintain anonymity while browsing.
The free VPN service of Opera Mini browser offers features
that are usually offered by paid VPN services. The main is to replace the IP
address with the virtual IP address so that the sites will have difficulty to
track your location, and your privacy will be protected.
The security enhancement will also be felt when accessing
the Internet via public Wi-Fi, and the last yet most important is, the users can access various sites and services
that are not available in their country, or that might be blocked by authorities
for certain reasons.
This free VPN service will come to the Opera developer
version first. No definite information related to its release to the public
version.
