About a year ago, Google launched a unique project called
Inside Abbey Road. Through a special site, users were invited to explore the
legendary recording studio in London, where the famous bands such as The
Beatles and Pink Floyd made it as a second home.
Now Google is ready to bring the project to a higher level
in the form of virtual reality with the help of Google Cardboard headset. The
360-degree Street View format that has existed can certainly be more immersive,
so users can feel as if they were in the Abbey Road Studios.
The Cardboard version of Inside Abbey Road will still offer
a virtual tour that's guided by Giles Martin, who is the son of the late George
Martin, producer of The Beatles, who has been very familiar with the ins and outs
of Abbey Road Studios.
In addition to enjoying the tour, the users are also free to
explore the Abbey Road Studios by themselves, moving from one studio to
another, until finally arriving at the mastering room where a song recording
gets final touch from the experts before being released.
There are plenty of unique experiences offered by the
Cardboard version of Inside Abbey Road, which is specifically designed for
virtual reality. At Studio 1, for example, the users can feel what it's like to
undergo a recording session with the London Symphony Orchestra. In order to
feel more realistic, the audio is presented in surround format.
If you have Google Cardboard and a compatible smartphone,
you can download the Inside Abbey Road app on Google Play. The IOS version is
promised will follow in the near future.
