DJI introduces the DJI Matrice 600 (M600) for professional videographers

Through Phantom 4, the seriousness of DJI in creating a user-friendly drone that's easy to fly by all consumers was finally proven. However, it doesn't mean that DJI ignores the professional users, and that's why DJI has just created a new drone named DJI Matrice 600 (M600).

When viewed from the name, maybe some people think that the DJI Matrice 600 is the successor of the Matrice 100 that's designated for the developer community. But actually M600 is designed to accommodate the needs of professional videographers who often rely on heavy camera equipment, complex, and expensive.

M600 is not a quadcopter, it has six propeller arms (hexacopter) which can be folded for portability purpose. It's able to carry an object with a total weight of 6 kg, which means that the professional cameras such as Red Epic can be brought with the help of Ronin MX gimbal.

Ronin MX itself is a three-axis gimbal that's quite unique. It can be used on the ground with two arms, or attached to the M600 which airs. This combination also provides flexibility for the videographers to wear a variety of professional cameras from various brands.

The component that becomes the brain of the M600 is a flight controller that can adapt the flight parameters in accordance with the object carried automatically. This component also brings Lightbridge 2 signal transmission system, where M600 will forward the 1080p 60 fps video from a distance of five kilometers.

M600 is powered by six batteries unit. The premise is, if one battery runs out, the M600 can still continue to operate. The flight time depends on the object carried; if the drone brings a big camera like Red Epic, the battery can only last up to 16 minutes, if it brings Zenmuse X5 camera, the battery power can last up to 36 minutes.

Although the majority of users would use cameras from the third parties, there are a number of advantages that can be obtained if the users decide to use the cameras from Zenmuse line that's made by DJI itself. One of them is the easiness of exposure parameters setting, such as the aperture and shutter speed through the DJI GO app, or determine the focal point with Zenmuse X5 or X5R.

DJI Matrice 600 will be offered at a price of $ 4,600, or $ 6,000 if bundled with Ronin MX gimbal.
