Robotic vacuum cleaner is not a new product, the famous
brand of iRobot has dominated this segment for several years, but now LG wants
to enliven the competition through its newest device, the LG HOM-BOT Turbo +.
LG HOM-BOT Turbo + is not just a regular cleaning robot that
can move by itself automatically, it has a number of smart features, including
the augmented reality technology, opening up chances to compete against
products from other manufacturers that have been very experienced in this
field.
The mainstay feature is called Home-Joy. This feature
essentially allows the user to define the area to be cleaned simply by pointing
the smartphone's camera to a specific area. A moment later, LG HOM-BOT Turbo +
will immediately move to the point that has been set and start to clean
it.
LG HOM-BOT Turbo + is equipped with three sensor cameras to
recognize the conditions surrounding it, separate the cleaned areas and which
have not. The camera on the front also contributes to two other excellent
features: Home-View and Home-Guard.
The Home-View feature will display the view of the robot in
real-time to the user's smartphone. User is then able to 'control' the robot
from a distance, asks it to clean the house anytime and from anywhere.
On the other hand, Home-Guard feature has nothing to do with
the clean-up activities. With this feature, LG HOM-BOT Turbo + can function as
a surveillance camera. Whenever it detects a movement, the robot will take a
picture and send it to the user who's not at home.
The rest, LG HOM-BOT Turbo + is not much different than the
other robotic vacuum cleaners in general. It's designed in order to navigate
while avoiding obstacles like stairs or table. LG equips this robot with a pair
of processors so that it can make decisions quickly, turning swiftly before
crashing into the wall.
LG HOM-BOT Turbo + will be exhibited at CES 2016 next month,
its price and availability may be specified in that event.
