Move the focus after the shooting is like a magic spell that’s
hard to believe. Some smartphones have offered this feature - although the
results still look too artificial - but mirrorless and DSLR cameras haven't
popularized it, except the Lytro that utilizes the light field technology.
But you don't need to worry because this feature can be
ensured to come to mirrorless and DSLR cameras, started by Panasonic. This
Lumix cameras line manufacturer recently introduces a feature called Post Focus. Its function is of course to facilitate the users to adjust the focus
after the shooting.
The way it works is quite simple: activate the Post Focus
mode, and then the camera will take multiple images at once, each with a
different focus points. Furthermore, by utilizing the touch screen, you can set
the desired focus point, the camera will store the files in 8 megapixels
resolution - or if according to the Panasonic's term, 4K Photo.
Panasonic confirms that the Post Focus feature will be very
effective when used to take motionless objects, such as a portrait picture or
landscape. Furthermore, this feature can also be useful in macro photography
thanks to the "focus stacking", where the camera will combine
multiple photos into one image to focus a larger area.
Post Focus feature will be available via a firmware update
that can be downloaded for free via Panasonic official support page on 25
November. Some cameras that will be supported by this feature are Lumix GX8,
Lumix G7 dan Lumix FZ300 - somehow Lumix GH4 is not listed, although it also
features 4K mode.
