Previously, we had seen Fossil unveiled its first
smartwatch, and then there was Tag Heuer Connected that's developed by Intel
and Google, and now another Swiss watch brand, Movado, also enlivens the
smartwatch segment in collaboration with HP.
Named Movado Bold Motion, this smartwatch is relying on
simplicity above all else. Its unisex design is heavily influenced by the line
of analog watch, Movado Bold, and this smartwatch doesn't bring a touchscreen.
Movado Bold Motion looks elegant, a characteristic that has
always maintained by the Swiss watches manufacturers. Its case is measuring 44
mm and is made of stainless steel material that's connected to a silicon strap.
This smartwatch carries quartz movement, and is also water resistance of up to
50 meters.
Meanwhile, HP has a duty to insert smart features into
Movado Bold Motion. This is not the first time HP is entrusted to 'educate' a
timepiece. HP actually has a program called Engineered by HP which aims to
embed technology into fashion products. One of examples is the Michael Bastian
Chronowing smartwatch that's introduced last year.
There are two main features offered by Movado Bold Motion:
to forward the notifications and monitoring the physical activity. In
forwarding the notification, Bold Motion will utilize LED lights and vibration
patterns that can be arranged through the companion app on the smartphone.
Unfortunately Bold Motion can only count the number of
footsteps, somehow the Swiss watches manufacturers seem reluctant to pin heart
rate sensor to their products, as we can see from the Tag Heuer Connected and
this Movado Bold Motion.
Movado Bold Motion utilizes Bluetooth connectivity to connect
to smartphones, both Android and iOS. This smartwatch is powered by a
rechargeable battery that's claimed can last for one week.
Movado Bold Motion is planned to be marketed towards the
holiday season at the end of this year. This smartwatch is offered at a price
of $ 695 to $ 795.
