Yesterday we've seen Google's latest flagship smartphone,
the Nexus 6P that's made by Huawei. In addition to the metal design that looks
premium and also its high performance, one of the interesting features is the
impressive photographic capabilities.
On paper, the rear camera of Nexus 6P brings 12.3 megapixel sensors,
perhaps the resolution of Nexus 6P’s camera may not be as big as the camera
resolution of other flagship smartphones, but as we know, resolution alone
can't be used to judge the quality of a camera.
Nexus 6P here relies on the size of each pixel that is
larger than usual, precisely 1.55 microns. In theory, the larger pixel size can
produce clearer pictures in low light conditions. Combined with f/2.0 lens and
autofocus laser technology, the camera of Nexus 6P sounds very promising.
It has been proven by the experts of camera benchmark,
DxOMark. Based on the test results, Nexus 6P occupies the second position of
the smartphone with the best camera, just below the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
DxOMark reveals that one of the advantages of Nexus 6P’s camera is its ability
to retain detail in low-light conditions, and is claimed to be the best so far.
But benchmark alone can't prove the capability of Nexus 6P's
camera thoroughly, we also need to see the photo results directly. Fortunately,
Romain Guy - Google employee who had ever served as one of the Android
engineers – has shared some of photos that were taken with the Nexus 6P.
Through the photographs that have been uploaded by Romain
Guy to Google Photos, we can see that the quality of Nexus 6P's camera is very
satisfying. Although Romain Guy is not a neutral resource for explaining the
advantages of the Nexus 6P's camera, but he is an experienced photographer, so
his opinion deserves to be considered.
And what’s about the quality of the video? For that we can
see the video that has been shared by Dave Burke who introduced Nexus 5X and
Nexus 6P on stage on last 29 September.
In this video, Dave recorded a hummingbird that's flying
nearby, as we know, the fluttering of hummingbird is barely visible, but with
the Nexus 6P's camera which can record in speed of 240 fps, the fluttering can
be seen clearly.
