Famous for its household devices such as hand dryers, bladeless
fans, and heaters, Dyson actually had ever assembled and demonstrated a
cleaning robot several years ago. But unfortunately because it was too
expensive, the product was never released to the market. Then in 2014, they
also showed off a new unit of vacuum cleaner which looked more modern, and now
it has been over a year since its introduction, how it goes now?
The British consumer electronics company has officially
launched a vacuum cleaner robot named 360 Eye in Japan. It means Dyson officially
challenges the Roomba in this realm. Of course in order to win the competition,
Dyson equips the 360 Eye with a number of advanced capabilities, and it seems
like Dyson is not afraid to offer it at a high price.
A number of top-tier technologies are presented in 360 Eye.
Reportedly to complete the product, Dyson should spend over 16 years and also
funds of approximately US $ 43 million, plus US $ 43.300 for the cost of
production. And as a result, 360 Eye is claimed as the most capable vacuum
cleaner robot today. It's very effective in cleaning, and can read the
circumstances surrounding it.
The environmental detection and navigation capability relies
on the 360 degrees visual system, and from this ability, the robot gets its
name. The 360 Eye robot observes and predicts the room based on complex
mathematical formulas, probability theory, geometry and trigonometry. As a
result, 360 Eye knows which location that has or hasn't been cleaned.
Dyson also embeds the Radial Root Cyclone, this technology
allows 360 Eye to capture microscopic dust and soil, powered by the Dyson
digital motor V2 100-Watt. Usually a powerful engine will also have a large
size, but Dyson managed to reduce the volume and weight of 360 Eye as small as
possible. The motor can rotate in 78.000rpm; sucks up eight liters of air in
one second.
According to Dyson, 360 Eye is the only cleaning robot which
moves using tank-style track. The technique is given to keep the high levels of
traction on any type of floor - minimizing possibility of robot to get stuck or
lost. The 360 Eye can connect to iOS and Android devices via companion app.
Dyson 360 Eye has been on sale in Japan. The price of a unit
is very high, which is ¥ 138,000 or about $ 1,150.
