Plex, one of popular media streamer applications recently
releases a new version of its iOS app which is claimed to have been massively
overhauled. One of the advantages of the Plex is for those who like to watch
movies using a smartphone or tablet, but always constrained with the storage
problem.
With Plex, you can store all movie files on a computer or
NAS that has been installed with Plex Media Server, and then watch the movies
using a smartphone via Wi-Fi networks, or even when you are not at home and
can't bring your computer (if you have subscribed for $ 5 per month). In
essence, you can continue to watch movies without having to store the movie
files on a smartphone at all.
The Plex for iOS, version 4.0, looks neat and easy to
navigate. Plex for IOS now also supports Plex Home, where users can share media
library with a number of other users.
Plex for iOS is now also supports video chapter, so that the
users can jump to certain scenes in the film more easily. Plex can even gather
the chapter information automatically if your movie doesn't have it.
At the same time, Plex also claims to have improved the
syncing performance of its iOS version, so that the film synchronization
process from the server to the iPhone or iPad can run faster and can be done in
the background. Of course, this feature only applies to those who have
subscribed to this service.
But the most important is all iOS users can now download the
Plex app for free in the App Store. Unfortunately the free option is limited
only for remote control feature and to forward the contents of Camera Roll to
your TV.
If you are interested in getting all of the features, such
as watching movies that are stored on the server using a smartphone or tablet,
you need to enable the in-app purchase worth $ 5.
