Microsoft so far doesn't have its own smartwatch, except the
Microsoft band which is in essence will be more appropriate if categorized as
activity tracker. Even so, Microsoft never stops to develop companion
applications for Android Wear smartwatch and Apple Watch.
There are three new smartwatch applications that are
launched; one for Android Wear, one for Apple Watch, and one for both. Bonus:
as the owner of Wunderlist, Microsoft also brings this to-do-list application
for Apple Watch.
The first application is the OneNote for Android Wear. Using
OneNote, users of Android Wear smartwatch can make notes via voice commands. To
activate the dictation feature, users only need to mention "Ok Google,
take a note," just like when accessing other functions of Android Wear
smartwatch. Not only making, users can also see a number of recent notes that
have been written in another device.
Second is the Outlook for Apple Watch. One of the advantages
is the notification which's based on the Focused Inbox feature of Outlook. This
means that you receive notification only about the most important emails, so
that your concentration is not easily distracted. Furthermore, you can also
schedule an email so that the notification will appear later on when you are
able to check the smartphone.
The last application is Microsoft Translator. Microsoft
Translator itself has just been released for Android and iOS devices a few days
ago. As expected, this application is intended to compete with Google
Translate.
But instead of releasing Microsoft Translator only for
Smartphones, Microsoft also has prepared the smartwatch version. In total there
are 50 languages that can be translated. And of course, because it is designed
for smartwatch users, this application also supports dictation feature, so that
you don't have to bother to type, but using voice commands.
In addition to the three new smartwatch applications above,
Microsoft also presents updates for a number of applications that have been available.
In essence, it can be said that Microsoft is 'indiscriminately' in developing
the quality software for the user's needs. Apple is happy, Google is happy,
Microsoft is happy, and most importantly, consumers will be pleased too.
