About four months after introducing the Phantom 3 line, now
DJI reveals the presence of a newest member in this line, DJI Phantom 3 Standard.
This DJI's latest drone is designed specifically for the beginners.
Because intended for beginners who haven't been familiar
with the controlling technique of drone, DJI Phantom 3 Standard carries three
semi-autopilot flight modes: 1) Follow Me which will follow wherever the
controller holder moves, 2) Waypoint Navigation to set the flying route so the
user only needs to control the camera, and 3) Point of Interest, where the user
can assign an object to be surrounded by DJI Phantom 3 Standard in a perfect
circle.
DJI Phantom 3 Standard is packing a camera that can record
video in a resolution of 2704 x 1520 pixels at 30 fps and 94 degrees view
angle. The camera can take 12 megapixels photos, either in JPEG or DNG. And of
course, the 3-axis gimbal is also presented to stabilize the camera.
So what makes it different from the Phantom 3 Advanced and
Phantom 3 Professional which are sold in higher prices? The controller of DJI
Phantom 3 Standard is not a new model, but the controller which's also used by
the Phantom 2 Vision + with Wi-Fi range extender feature. This means that the
DJI Phantom 3 Standard is not equipped with Lightbridge signal transmission
technology; it can only forward the 720p video to a smartphone or tablet from a
distance of 1 km away.
Besides that, the DJI Phantom 3 Standard is only equipped
with GPS to lock a position, unlike the Advanced and Professional versions that
have been equipped with GLONASS so they can be more accurate. DJI Phantom 3
Standard also doesn't bring an ultrasonic sensor that allows a drone to fly low
over the floor in the room.
Apart from that, the DJI Phantom 3 Standard is still an
attractive alternative for the drone users, especially because it has
semi-intelligent autopilot. The DJI Phantom 3 Standard battery has about 25
minutes flying time on a single charge.
DJI Phantom 3 Standard is now marketed through the official
website for $ 799, or about $ 200 cheaper than the Phantom 3 Advanced, and $
460 cheaper than the Phantom 3 Professional.
