Watch How The Koenigsegg One: 1 Sets The Acceleration Record

The Koenigsegg One: 1

Its name may not be as famous as Ferrari or Lamborghini, but Koenigsegg vision to make legal street super car deserves appreciation. Ten years ago, a Koenigsegg CCR successfully beat McLaren F1 as the fastest production class vehicle at the time. And recently the Swedish automotive manufacturer is setting new record through their new car.

In the automotive world, there are several levels of vehicle hierarchy based on performance and design: roadster, sports car, grand tourer, and supercar. Koenigsegg seems doesn't want to put their latest car into one of those categories, while trying to create another higher class, Koenigsegg is introducing One: 1, the first megacar in the world.

The Koenigsegg One: 1

According to Koenigsegg, One: 1 seriously boosts the standard performance of car, backed up with a unique solution to improve vehicle performance over the circuit without any compromise on maximum speed and durability of everyday use. One: 1 is also claimed as a megawatt-powered production car, and perhaps this is where the term of megacar is taken. But Koenigsegg proves that megacar is not only a title.

In a trial on June 8, 2015 which was conducted in a test circuit of Ängelholm, Sweden, Koenigsegg One: 1 managed to break the acceleration record. From 0 to 300 kilometers per hour, then back to 0, the car only required 17.95 seconds. Initially it was believed that the time of 21.19 seconds was unbeaten, however most likely this figure can be passed again by the One: 1.

Koenigsegg One: 1 is carrying V8 5,0L aluminum engine, 4 valves per cylinder, issues a 1MW output at 7500rpm and maximum torque of 1371 at 6000rpm. The weight ratio is designed to be very precise, in order to produce one horsepower in one kilogram. This number is a 'dream' equation as previously it's considered unattainable. One: 1 development is the most exclusive program in the history of automobile.

The design itself is very slick; it has two seats with doors that open upward. Its body is made from a combination of carbon fiber and kevlar materials, combined with F1-style honeycomb chassis, and integrated gas tank. With half a tank of pure gasoline, it weighs only 1,360 kilograms. One: 1 also has obtained the certification of the Euro VI emission test.

Unfortunately Koenigsegg doesn't want to talk about the price, and One: 1 is produced in limited quantity, only six units in the world and all of them have been sold out!
