A few days ago, we have seen the ambition of Chinese company
to enliven the virtual reality (VR) market. They introduced a VR headset named
Dlodlo VR glasses which has portable and original design.
This time a different company from China, Snail VR, also
shows off their VR device. At CES Asia
2015 in Shanghai, China, they introduce a VR headset named SVR Glass.
Previously, the SVR Glass had been successful in raising funds through
crowdfunding site of JD Finance.
Unlike Dlodlo, SVR Glass design is very similar to the
Samsung Gear VR. The SVR Glass is also powered by a smartphone. But the
difference is SVR Glass can accommodate a variety of smartphones in various
sizes, start from 4.7 inch to 6 inch smartphones, with 96 degrees field of view.
Another interesting feature is the adjustable focus lens so
users with myopia eyes can enjoy the VR content without having to wear glasses.
Speaking of content, SVR Glass requires its users to download the companion
application first on the smartphone before tucking it into the VR headset.
Through the application on iOS and Android, users can enjoy videos or games that have been created specifically for VR device. The SVR Glass
is connected with smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0 connection.
SVR Glass is offered at a price of 299 Yuan, or about $ 50.
Of course with this low price, the quality of SVR Glass can't be compared with
Gear VR, but at least this headset is compatible with various types of
smartphones.
