The main concept of Google+ is very clear; to compete with
Facebook and Twitter even though the existence of the two social media is still
hard to beat. In the midst of Google+ effort to dominate the social networks,
recently they launch a new feature called Collections.
Basically, Collections is a new feature that allows you to
put all the posts that you think are interesting in one place. It can be in the
form of photos and videos. The placement options of interesting posts to
Collections will appear when you share a post or make it from the page that has
been provided by Google+.
Not only make collections of posts, other users can also
follow the collections that have been made. This feature reminds us to the
Pinterest Board feature that might have been expected by most users of any
social network.
Google has prepared a special page - plus.google.com/collections
- where users can create new collections that contain interesting posts.
Starting from that page, the user can give a relevant name
that describes the contents of the collections - the name can be changed later
if you feel less fit.
Just like the standard Google+ posting, the user is also
given flexibility to adjust the privacy of collections by making them only
visible to the Circle or can be viewed by the public. Unfortunately after it is
published, this option can’t be changed again at a later time.
Currently the Collections can be accessed from desktop and
the latest version of Android. For a while iOS hasn't been able to use this new
feature. Perhaps Google still examines it before being taken to the App Store.
