One more Oculus Rift competitor appears, its name is Dlodlo VR Glasses. As the name implies, the Dlodlo VR Glasses looks more like regular
glasses than a VR headset. It has compact shape if compared with most of VR
headsets; weighs only 120 grams, or about four times lighter than other VR
headsets.
Dlodlo brings stereoscopic display with full-HD resolution -
size is not mentioned. The screen's field of view reaches 110º, and the refresh
rate is fast enough at the rate of 120 Hz. There is a switch to change between
2D or 3D mode.
The developer claims that this screen is distortion-free,
but what's interesting is Dlodlo can adjust the distance between the content
and the eyes, starting from the rate of 58 mm to 70 mm. In other words, users
who wear glasses can still use Dlodlo with the bare eyes.
Bringing portable design, Dlodlo doesn't require a PC or a
particular smartphone to be used. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat operating system
so that it can be operated independently.
Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity is also presented in order to make
Dlodlo can be connected with various devices, such as gaming controllers,
headsets, speakers, or a variety of other Bluetooth-connected devices.
Dlodlo is powered by a battery capacity of 2,000mAh; the
charging process can be done via micro USB connection. Dlodlo VR Glasses is
currently being exhibited at CES Asia 2015 in Shanghai, China. The device is
planned to be marketed starting next May 27 at a price of $ 699.
