In this connected car era, many car manufacturers integrate
crash detection features, utilizing a variety of sensors embedded in the car.
This feature is useful for car owners to get immediate help when the accident
happens.
A startup from San Francisco, Zendrive, wants to give a
similar feature to all car owners, whatever type of cars they use. ZendriveAccident Detection can detect the occurrence of accident only with the help of
smartphone sensors.
Zendrive Accident Detection Accuracy is claimed to reach 100%
during the testing phase at the BMW facility. However, this system only works
when the car is running in a speed of about 50 km/h or more, indicating that
the accident is severe enough, which usually occurs in high speed.
What if your smartphone accidentally fell out of your
pocket? Will Zendrive Accident Detection take it as an accident, based on data
collected by the smartphone's sensors? According
to its developer, Zendrive Accident Detection can even distinguish between
collision and sudden braking. Thus, the accuracy can be maximal continuously.
Zendrive Accident Detection will be released in the form of
SDK (software development kit) that can be integrated by developers into their
iOS application design - the Android version will be coming soon.
With the integration of Zendrive Accident Detection, various
applications can take advantage of the accident information to activate the
relevant features. For example, when your car is plunged into the river, the
crane company's application can send notification to you; ask whether you need
a crane unit immediately or not. IOS app developers and service owners who are
interested to integrate the Zendrive Accident Detection can try it for free
until June 15.
