Garmin Introduces Two New Generation of Action Cams: Garmin Virb X and Virb XE

Garmin Virb X and Virb XE

One function of action cam is to record thrilling actions that trigger your adrenalin. The action cam that's installed on helmet will record all moments from the first viewpoint, so the audience can get an idea of how you are doing the extreme maneuvers.

But what if you can make the thrilling moments even more exciting by providing a number of other information? It would be more interesting if the audience can also see other information such as your heart beat rate when sliding on a snowboard with a speed of 30 km/h.

From that idea, Garmin Virb X and Virb XE are made. These new duo action cameras want to give more than just video, but also provide related data, so you can tell you extreme actions in more detail.

The key lies in the technology called GTMetrix. Simply put, Virb X and Virb XE will utilize GPS and internal sensors to record various information, plus data from a variety of accessories that can be connected via Wi-Fi, ANT + and Bluetooth 4.0. Furthermore, you only need to add this information directly on the top of video you record.

At the same time, the video quality is not forgotten just like that. Virb XE can record video with a maximum resolution of 1080p 60 fps, while Virb X with a resolution of 1080p 30 fps - unfortunately not yet 4K. Both can take 12 megapixel photos, with burst shooting performance up to 30 images per second.

Furthermore, Virb XE also offers image stabilization and Pro Mode. As the name implies, Pro Mode feature allows the user to adjust various parameters, such as white balance, color profile, ISO and exposure compensation settings manually.

Virb X and Virb XE also have amazing physical toughness. These duo action cameras can be taken to dive till a depth of 50 meters without casing. For comparison, the GoPro Hero4 with standard casing can only dive to 40 meters.

Both Garmin Virb X and Virb XE are powered by 980mAh battery. Both are believed to be able to operate up to 2 hours when recording video with a resolution of 1080p 30 fps. They can accommodate microSD with a maximum capacity of 128 GB.

Both of these action cameras will go on sale in the summer of this year, or about June to July. Garmin Virb X will be priced at $ 300, while Virb XE is offered at $ 400.
