Yahoo argues that it's easy to send messages, but sometimes
we need more than just a text to explain our true feelings. Meanwhile in the
other hand, to express joy, pleasure, or wonder, we don't need to shout in a
video that actually looks weird and annoying.
For that reason Yahoo launches a messaging application called Yahoo Livetext.
Yahoo Livetext is a messaging application that becomes a
form of Yahoo's effort to compete with a number of renowned developers such as
Periscope, Meerkat, Vine and Snapchat. Yes, this application is still related to
a live video streaming. The difference is the video is delivered without voice;
the voce is replaced with a text.
The video is sent only to one recipient, not a group. The
text that serves as a substitute of the voice can be placed on the video, the
similar function to the video call application, but it's more convenient
because it will not disturb other people around you.
Another difference is Yahoo Livetext doesn't require users
to make a call to a friend. The user can send a video message and the recipient
will get a notification. After the conversation ends, then the text or chat
message will also disappear along with the video.
Yahoo Livetext has been tested in Hong Kong, Taiwan and
Ireland. While the United States, Britain, Germany, Canada and France will get
a turn today through the Google Play Store and App Store.
