On last May, there were rumors which said that Samsung was preparing to introduce the successor of its flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S. And on July 20, 2015, Samsung officially announced the presence of Samsung Galaxy Tab S2.

This second generation of Samsung's flagship tablet is completely different from its predecessor. It still comes in two sizes (8 and 9.7 inch), but the screen resolution is no longer Quad HD, instead of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Does this sound familiar? Well, that figure is the screen resolution of the Apple iPad and the iPad Mini latest generation.

Regardless of its resemblance to the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 manages to set a new record in the tablet segment. It's claimed as the slimmest and lightest tablet in the world, it's only 5.6 mm, with a weight of 265 grams for 8 inch variant and 389 grams for 9.7-inch variant. Is this due to the use of plastic material? No, because the frame is also made of metal and looks premium, like the Galaxy S6.

On the other hand, the Super AMOLED display panel that's brought by the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is claimed to be able to reproduce colors accurately, about 94 percent of the Adobe RGB standard color spectrum. The Adaptive Display feature is also presented, in which the screen will adjust the brightness, saturation, contrast and sharpness based on the lighting conditions around the user.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 has been equipped with top-class components. Call it octa-core processor (1.9 GHz quad-core + 1.3 GHz quad-core), 3 GB RAM, 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage, plus a microSD slot up to 128 GB. As a complement, a 8 megapixel camera is provided on the back and a 2.1 megapixel camera on the front for video calls.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 also borrows another mainstay feature that's carried by Galaxy S6: fingerprint reader. The sensor of fingerprint scanner has been pinned to the Home button of Tab S2, so that the user can utilize this biometric-based security easily and effectively.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is scheduled for shipping globally in August 2015. Unfortunately, up to now Samsung is still not providing the price information.
